AP consumption differs from required switch-port power. All these picks include a 6 GHz radio; that does not guarantee a particular speed or coverage area. TP-Link says MLO and 320 MHz channels need compatible clients.
Choose the network before the access point
Keep your router: NETGEAR lists Router Mode: No for both APs. Its installation manual puts the router upstream of the PoE switch, with an Ethernet cable carrying power and data to the AP.
If pulling Ethernet to the desired location is impractical, compare mesh Wi-Fi systems before choosing this kind of installation.

Best starting point: Zyxel NWA130BE
The NWA130BE is our default for direct local management. Zyxel's specifications document standalone web/CLI management alongside Nebula, two 2.5 GbE LAN ports and unrestricted operation on 802.3at. Neither LAN port supports 10 GbE.
For one AP, Zyxel's current datasheet recommends the PoE12-30W injector, with 2.5 GbE data and a 30 W budget. Use it with your existing non-PoE switch. Mount plate and screws are listed; add power and cabling.
Variant trap: the specifications limit USB-C power to units released after June 2025, identifying serials starting from S250Y13073732. Those units accept USB PD at 15 VDC/2 A; do not order a USB-C supply for an unidentified older unit. PoE avoids that uncertainty.
Best for a simple PoE+ installation: NETGEAR WBE710
The WBE710 manual requires a 30 W 802.3at switch port, while the AP's stated draw is 25 W. This suits existing PoE+ power. Its port negotiates 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps or 2.5 Gbps; a gigabit switch powers the AP but limits that wired connection to gigabit.
The datasheet identifies WBE710-100NAS as the North American version and lists a wall/ceiling mount kit; the DC adapter is excluded. Local browser management is available, and Insight includes one year. Do not substitute basic 802.3af: NETGEAR's manual says insufficient power reduces the lower-band transmit power and disables the 6 GHz radio.
Best for 10G with PoE+: Omada EAP773 US V2
The current US page identifies EAP773 (US) V2, also called Omada 7 Pro X. It lists 802.3at power, 25.4 W maximum PoE consumption, and 10/5/2.5/1 GbE support. Choose it for 10G without PoE++.
Web management is listed, but cloud access, mesh and seamless roaming require an Omada controller. Ceiling/wall/junction-box and T-bar mounting kits are listed; the DC adapter is excluded.
Best for an existing UniFi network: Ubiquiti U7 Pro XG
The U7 Pro XG specifications list a 10 GbE port, PoE+ and 22 W maximum consumption; Ubiquiti's US product page confirms 10/5/2.5/1 GbE support. Choose it for an existing UniFi installation. Add power; a ceiling/wall Lite Mount is listed.
Our record covers black U7-Pro-XG-B. Ubiquiti requires UniFi Network 9.1.120 or later for black, versus 9.0.114 or later for white. Also distinguish XG from the original U7 Pro: the original has a 2.5 GbE uplink and includes a Pro Mount. Check both the model and mount.
Best for higher radio capacity: NETGEAR WBE750
The WBE750 specifications list 4x4 radios on each band, versus the WBE710's 2x2. Plan around the manual's 60 W 802.3bt port requirement; AP consumption is 39 W. On insufficient 802.3at power, NETGEAR documents reduced maximum throughput on every band.
Documentation conflict: the page says “10G/1G”; the manual includes 2.5 and 5 Gbps. The datasheet lists 7.8 and 18.4 Gbps totals, and eight streams versus 4x4 per band in the radio table. WBE750-100NAS is the US order code; a wall/ceiling kit is listed and the DC adapter is excluded.

See our PoE switch guide. The XMG1915-10EP's SFP+ speed does not change its copper-port limit.
Power budget: use the source rating
The Ethernet Alliance distinguishes 30 W at a Type 2 source from 25.5 W available to the device, and 60 W at a Type 3 source from 51 W at the device. Its class overview identifies those source levels as Class 4 and Class 6 respectively. This is source capability, not each AP's negotiated class.
Conservatively reserve 30 W per WBE710 and 60 W per WBE750, following their manuals. Two of each reserve 2 × 30 + 2 × 60 = 180 watts, exceeding the XMG1915-10EP's 130 W shared budget. The MS510TXUP's 295 W budget covers that reservation before other loads. Check actual allocations in the switch's PoE settings. This calculation is not an AP-count guarantee.
- Yes: Correct per-port PoE standard and enough shared power budget
- Yes: AP and switch support the intended Ethernet link speed
- Partly: A gigabit switch can power the WBE710, with a gigabit wired limit
- No: Basic 802.3af power: WBE710 loses its 6 GHz radio
Cable, mounting and management checklist
For indoor patch leads, Cable Matters 160001 uses bare-copper Cat6 and supports PoE/PoE+/PoE++. Choose length and quantity; see our Cat6 versus Cat6A guide for installed runs. For 10G, Fluke says the installed link needs testing.
NETGEAR's installation guides require professional installation for the WBE710 and WBE750.
Confirm the exact unit
Check region, hardware revision and the included mounting kit against its official documentation.
Complete the kit
Add the selected power source and Ethernet leads; include the controller if your chosen management mode needs it.
Configure within reach
Power the AP, check the negotiated link and management access, then mount it in the intended location.
Choose management before adoption: NETGEAR's manuals describe Insight and standalone management as mutually exclusive, with some settings masked locally in Insight mode. Do not assume the included Insight year covers cloud management forever. Zyxel offers standalone/Nebula modes; Omada's cloud access requires a controller; UniFi specifies its Network application.
Review Zyxel's model download library, Omada's hardware-version selector and UniFi's software downloads. NETGEAR's published EOS policy generally ends firmware and security updates three years after the last sale date. No model-specific support end date is inferred.
How we choose
We compare official product pages, model manuals, datasheets and Ethernet Alliance power guidance. We prioritize local management, full-power operation, matching ports and identifiable variants. Awards are editorial judgments; kit compatibility is inferred from specifications. We make no measured throughput, roaming or coverage claims. Method: How we choose.
Verdict
Start with NWA130BE plus PoE12-30W for a local-managed AP on an existing non-PoE network. Pick WBE710 for a suitable PoE+ retrofit, EAP773 US V2 for 10G with PoE+, or U7 Pro XG for an existing UniFi installation. Choose WBE750 only after allowing for its full PoE++ source requirement. Order the AP, power, cabling, mount and management arrangement as a complete kit.
Frequently asked questions
Does a Wi-Fi 7 access point replace my router?
Keep your router upstream. NETGEAR explicitly lists no router mode for the WBE710 and WBE750, and its installation topology connects the access point through a switch to a router. Choose an AP when you want to add Wi-Fi at an Ethernet outlet. If you want to replace the main router and extend coverage together, start with our mesh Wi-Fi guide instead.
Can a PoE+ switch power a Wi-Fi 7 access point?
It depends on the exact AP and hardware revision. The NWA130BE, WBE710 and EAP773 US V2 support 802.3at PoE+; Ubiquiti specifies PoE+ for the U7 Pro XG. The WBE750 needs a 60 W 802.3bt source for full operation, although its maximum AP draw is 39 W. The older EAP773 V1 also needs 802.3bt for full functionality. Check both the per-port capability and remaining total budget.
Do I need 10 Gigabit Ethernet for Wi-Fi 7?
No. The WBE710 and NWA130BE have 2.5 GbE uplinks. The EAP773 US V2, U7 Pro XG and WBE750 document lower-speed connections as well as 10 GbE. Match the switch port to the speed you intend to use, and check the router-to-switch path too. A faster AP port does not raise the speed of a slower upstream link or guarantee a particular wireless throughput.
Do these access points require a cloud subscription?
The NWA130BE offers standalone local management or Nebula cloud management. Both NETGEAR APs offer local browser management as an alternative to Insight; their included Insight subscription lasts one year. EAP773 has web management, but its cloud access requires an Omada controller. U7 Pro XG lists UniFi Network as a software requirement, so include your management platform in the purchase decision. Do not assume every cloud feature is included indefinitely.
